Finding a Product Using Product Search

The Product Search function is the fastest way to locate items in your POS system, whether you’re adding products to a sale, order, or just checking stock levels. You can search using a variety of methods, including SKU, barcode, product name, or keywords.

You can access the product search from:

  • The Sales screen

  • The Orders screen

  • The Admin > Products section (for management tasks)

How to Search for a Product

  1. Click into the Product Search field (usually at the top of the screen or in the add-item section).

  2. Start typing one of the following:

    • Product name (e.g., “T-shirt” or “Classic Mug”)

    • Barcode or SKU (e.g., “9349322” or “TSHIRT-RED-S”)

    • Keywords from the description or tags (e.g., “Summer” or “Clearance”)

  3. Results will appear in a dropdown list as you type.

If you scan a barcode using a connected scanner, the system will automatically search and select the matching product.

Tips for Faster Searching

  • Exact matches on SKU or barcode will automatically select and add the product (if you’re building an invoice or order).

  • Partial text matches are supported; try entering part of the name if you’re unsure.

  • If multiple variants of a product exist (e.g., sizes or colors), you’ll be prompted to choose the correct one.

  • Use Quick Access Tiles for commonly sold items to reduce the need to search manually.

What to Do if a Product Doesn’t Show Up

  • Make sure the product is active and not archived.

  • Double-check spelling or try searching by SKU instead of name.

  • If recently added, ensure the product is saved and synced.

  • Confirm you're searching in the correct location or terminal context if your system uses multi-site inventory.
